Troubleshooting
When something refuses, Tournabot names the reason rather than failing quietly. These are the refusals you are most likely to meet, and the fix for each.
The bot cannot post
Check View Channel, Send Messages and Embed Links on the target channel. The bot role must sit where it can see that channel.
If the channel overwrites deny Send Messages to @everyone, the bot needs an explicit allow — a server-wide permission does not override a channel-level denial.
A permission was removed after setup
Someone edited the bot role or a channel overwrite. Registration and role grants fail with the named missing permission rather than failing silently.
Re-invite with the install link from the website (bitfield 285297872) — it always requests the full set. See Bot permissions.
A channel was deleted
Setup remembers structure in a journal. Re-run the matching setup step from the dashboard — it finds or recreates the channel and re-posts the panel.
Remap the channel under organisation settings if you replaced it by hand.
The bot role sits below a role it must assign
Discord will not let a bot assign a role higher than its own. Drag the bot’s managed role above Community and any access-pass roles, then retry the grant.
Payment did not activate the plan
Open Billing on the website and match the Razorpay payment id. A paid plan does not flip because the bot rejoined Discord.
If the charge succeeded and the plan is still Free, contact support with the payment id. Do not create a second organisation to “retry” checkout.
On a brand-new paid signup the subscription clock starts when the bot comes online (capped at 14 days), so finish the developer wizard and let the bot connect.
OCR ran out
Screenshot assist stops when the month’s allowance ends. Manual result entry stays open and unlimited — a spent allowance never blocks running your night.
| Free | Scrim | Pro | Circuit |
|---|---|---|---|
| 30/28d | 250/28d | 1,500/28d | 15,000/28d |
Prepaid OCR packs are available from billing when you need more screenshots before the next renewal.
The install link was opened by someone without Manage Server
The bot may join, but the website will not let that person claim the organisation. An owner or a Manage Server admin must complete the link step while signed in.
A server belongs to exactly one organisation
If binding is refused because the server is already linked elsewhere, that is the squat guard doing its job. Sign in with the account that owns the other organisation, or bind a different server.
